Global Celebration of Service

An opportunity for project professionals around the world to unite

Our 50th Anniversary is a time to reflect on the achievements of project managers and recognize the progress that the profession as a whole has made. We also see it as a time to pull together in service, contribute our collective skills and passion, and make a difference in the world together. To accomplish this, PMI is supporting the United Nations’ mission to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals.

Pledging Your Commitment

The UN has identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that serve as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. PMI has committed to contributing 50,000 hours towards attaining these goals by 31 December 2019. We have reached this goal and are now working on doubling it! The call is still open for PMI staff, members, chapters, credential holders, volunteers and any individuals or organizations who want to get involved to pledge their commitment.

Think about what causes motivate you…where your passion lies…or how your expertise could help most. You can sign up on behalf of yourself, your PMI chapter, your employer or other organization, and spread the word to others who may want to participate.

PMI Volunteers Invite All to Join the Global Celebration of Service

A little project management can go a long way

Members of the PMI Board of Directors and other PMI volunteers were on hand in Philadelphia for an annual planning session that served as the launching pad for the Global Celebration of Service. These volunteers eagerly contributed their time to get the celebration started and logged the first 345 hours toward our pledge goal. As Terri A. Knudson, PMP, PgMP, PfMP, Chair of the Audit Committee of the PMI Board of Directors stated, “We want to show how a little bit of project management—by working together—can go a long way throughout the world.” Join the celebration and enter your pledge today!

We Want to Hear Your Stories

When you have your project planned, or if you already have a project underway, go to the Pledge Form and share a description and an image or video about your project…we can’t wait to hear all about it!

17 Goals to Transform Our World

The Sustainable Development Goals are goals that the United Nations has established to address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is vitally important that society achieves each Goal by 2030.
