India Round Table Series

As an extension to PMI’s partnership with The Economic Times earlier this year, we joined CNBC TV 18 for a CEO Round Table Series on the theme: India at 75 – opportunities and challenges.

These events were held across three cities—Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata—to discuss how project management will play a key role in redefining the way India builds its capabilities, helps to create a climate for growth, and enables the country to move toward an economy centered on innovation and project development.

The round table events featured Raj Kalady, managing director of the PMI India office, as well as industry leaders from companies including Cisco and Boeing.

MOU with UAE Government

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement was signed between the UAE Government, The Prime Minister’s Office and PMI. The goal is to promote the strategic cooperation in the areas of capacity building and development of UAE Federal Government employees, and exchange of experiences and best practices in the field of project management. This MoU complements the approach for the ideal and efficient investment in human resources that will help achieve the UAE Government vision for the future.

Infrastructure and Projects Authority MoU

PMI United Kingdom signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK Government’s Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA). The IPA is a natural partner to PMI. As the center of expertise for infrastructure and major projects in the UK, the IPA leads the project delivery profession and seeks to improve government performance in major projects.

The MoU sets out an ambitious program of cooperation, including collaboration on thought leadership, access to PMI’s global network and engagement through events and conferences including the Global Executive Council.

Next Steps for Program Management Law

PMI celebrated a big win when the U.S. legislation we strongly endorsed in the United States was signed into law. The Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA) will save taxpayer dollars and profoundly change how federal government programs are planned, executed and managed. Throughout 2017, PMI worked to ensure successful PMIAA implementation on behalf of its members through convening with stakeholders, developing white papers, and direct advocacy to the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and U.S. Office of Personnel Management- the two federal agencies responsible for implementation.

Welcoming New Organizations

The PMI Global Executive Council is an influential group of senior decision makers from leading corporations and government agencies working to influence and shape the project management profession. Council members understand and embrace the value of project management as a strategic competency that reduces risk, cuts costs, and improves success rates.

PMI is pleased to facilitate a platform for discussion and thought leadership that allows these leaders to engage with project management-related topics and stay ahead of the curve on emerging trends.
