Path to PMI-ACP certification
Before you apply, make sure you meet one of the following sets of PMI-ACP certification requirements:
Eligibility requirement
- Secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED (general educational development), or global equivalent
- 24 months/2 years of agile experience within the last 5 years (a current PMP® satisfies this requirement but is not mandatory
- 28 hours of training in agile practices, frameworks, and methodologies. Candidates with a third-party certification or who have completed a GAC core project management course, are pre-approved to fulfill this requirement.
- PMI offers diverse learning products that satisfy the 28-hour training requirement:
- PMI Authorized On-Demand PMI-ACP® Exam Prep or
- PMI Authorized Instructor-led ACP® course (Available Online and In-Person)
- PMI also offers additional preparation materials:

Maintaining your PMI-ACP certification
Earning your certification is a big step - maintaining it shouldn't have to be. Continuing education is core to PMI certification. PMI-ACP holders need to earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3-year cycle to maintain certification. Each PDU represents one hour spent:
