Path to a PfMP certification

Before you apply, make sure you meet one of the following sets of PfMP certification requirements:

Set A requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years AND
  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • 84 months of portfolio management experience

Set B requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years AND
  • Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • 48 months of portfolio management experience

      Maintaining your PfMP certification

      Earning your PfMP certification is a big step — maintaining it shouldn’t have to be. Continuing education is core to PMI certification. PfMP holders need to earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3-year cycle to maintain certification. Each PDU represents one hour spent:
