Details About the CAPM Pilot Exam

  • English only. (Translations in 13 languages will be available after the pilot ends.)
  • Only available at Prometric testing centers.
  • The pilot exam registration is closing early due to high demand. The last day to pay your exam fee is 6 March.
  • If you take the pilot exam between 12 and 30 March, your exam is only US$90 (for PMI members and non-members).
  • Between 31 March and 20 May, PMI members pay US$180 and non-members pay US$240.
  • You will receive your rebate two to three weeks after the pilot program ends on 20 May in your original form of payment. (e.g., If your employer paid your exam fee, your rebate will be mailed to your employer or credited to your employer’s account.)
  • The pilot exam follows the same education and experience eligibility requirements as the current CAPM exam.
  • Test results will be available the week of 28 May.
  • The Student Bundle is not eligible for the pilot.

Get Started with the Pilot Exam

Log in and follow these steps:

  1. Open, complete and submit your CAPM exam application.
  2. Click the link in the email (or log into myPMI) to make the payment.
  3. Select Center-Based Test.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select CAPM (PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition) – New Exam Pilot.
  6. On the next page, under Language Aid, select “No, I do not need a translation.”
Take the FIRST Step

You will still have the option to take the current CAPM exam based on the PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition until 20 May.

On 21 May, we will retire the exam based on the PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition. All CAPM candidates will take the new exam based on the PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition.
