PMI Washington, DC Chapter

Welcome to the PMI Washington, DC Chapter

We are a group of high impact community leaders, here to empower professionally diverse members to evolve in their project management careers through professional development and networking opportunities, and we can’t do it without you. Our members make a difference!

Now a message from our PMIWDC Board/CEO, Kendall Lott

Kendall Lott

See the picture? It was my most recent professional headshot, taken in 2019…remember then, before COVID? I look like that still, but now grey, so grey. As with falling birthrates and employee engagement, rising costs and changes in consumption patterns, the pandemic lockdowns seem to accelerate trends that were already happening…like aging and greying!

Engagement with professional associations like PMI was no different. COVID didn’t create the drop in chapter event participation across the nation, but it punched the accelerator on our desire and the ease of ability to use the virtual tools…to get what we needed without showing up. But are you wanting to meet people that "get you?" Are you missing talking freely, professionally, with like-minded folk? PMIWDC's gotcha covered this year. In 2023 your chapter is going to give you what you can't get from home…

Your chapter Board (follow us on LinkedIn!) has focused our planning and budget on monthly speaker events that include food and drink. Your Programs team has planned networking events from wineries, to bowling, to ice-skating to watching professional sports (the Wizards and the Nats). We are putting our effort in face-to-face career fairs, a reimagined professional symposium, and volunteer activities. As chapter members and perhaps would be members, we will meet each other at events in Reston, in Tysons, in the center of downtown and the ballparks and arenas of DC. Don’t come to amass PDUs, come to revel in relationships!

So dig our weekly eblasts out of your spam folders and start checking the website for events across the DC and Northern Virginia footprint. Check out our volunteer openings at to volunteer if you want to bring your skills to the chapter. Come to events and find out from board members where the needs are. We always have open arms for our new volunteers to help us manage to success. We will be there to see you; come see us.

In the 2020's, your home became the office, your first professional place. Now in this hybrid year your office…is becoming your office again, your second professional place. Let PMIWDC be your professional "third space." And maybe, just maybe, despite the years of isolation and digital busy-ness, we can meet each other and reconnect…even if we’ve greyed out of our last headshot!
