Welcome to the PMI Washington, DC Chapter

We are a group of high impact community leaders, here to empower professionally diverse members to evolve in their project management careers through professional development and networking opportunities, and we can’t do it without you. Our members make a difference!

Now a message from our PMIWDC Board Chair/CEO, Dannette (Danni) Richards:

A big welcome to our new members, congratulations to our newly PMI certified project management professionals, and a huge thank you to our volunteers!

My goal for 2022 is to get people involved with our Chapter -- participating in our local events and expanding the knowledge of the project management discipline, ensuring that PMIWDC is where you come to find the best in breed of project management.

Here’s some of our 1st quarter accomplishments:

  • Conducted our 2021/2022 annual membership meeting (hybrid)
    • 136 attended, 76 in-person (including 1 Partner) and 60 virtually
    • Received great/positive feedback from attendees and partners
  • Mailed 234 welcome postcards to new members
  • Conducted 4 Member orientations with a total of 145 attendees
  • Provided 16 opportunities for career/leadership skills development
    • Book clubs, local communities (including Agile), Dinner meetings
    • Total of 993 attending these events; average of 62 attendees per event
  • Had our best attendance w/181, with an Agile Wednesday Webinar on Feb. 9
  • Conducted 3 Military Liaison meetings with a total of 167 attendees
  • Committed to a new Scholarship Program for members to award $10,000 a year in increments of ~$2,500 to youths and/or returning students obtaining an education in the Project Management Profession
  • Negotiated member discounts for PMI certification training with PMI ATPs
  • Opened a Call for Speakers for our 2022 Project Management Symposium

Chapter News - June 2022

As a Chapter member, you will be receiving an email from PMIWDC; Subject, “2022 Bylaws Review,” requesting your review of PMIWDC’s 2022 proposed Chapter bylaws.

What will change: The initial bylaw review occurred in January of 2022 which focused on alignment to PMI’s 4.0 Strategy and provided greater transparency to membership. After receiving feedback and questions from several members, the bylaws were modified to reflect the Chair Elect nominations and Chair appointment processes. Members also asked for clarity within the board nominations and election process and requested uniformity in several other areas of the document. Presently, all proposed modifications have been incorporated.  The 2022 bylaws which will posted here underneath Chapter Documents for 30 days or approximately July 15.   

After which time, we will invite all members to vote on the 2022 proposed bylaws for adoption and approval.

Nominations Open for the PMIWDC 2023-2025 Board of Directors.

Are you interested in serving on the PMIWDC Board of Directors?

In accordance with the PMIWDC Bylaws and in line with association practices, PMIWDC is accepting nominations for the following Board of Directors positions:

  • VP of Operations Services
  • VP of Professional Development
  • VP of Technology
  • PMIWDC, Chair-Elect

Nominations and Election Schedule:

  • Nominations are DUE by 5:00 PM (EST), July 29, 2021
  • Petitions are DUE by 5:00 PM (EST), August 17, 2021
  • Elections will be held August 22 – September 12
>How To Apply:

There are two ways to apply. Instructions for both processes are below.

Members who apply before 29 July 2022 may follow the "Nomination Process":

  • Must meet the requirements for eligibility
  • Submit the following by email to [email protected] - not later than July 29
    • Completed 2023 Qualifications Form (downloadable form at the bottom of this page).
    • A digital photograph to be used if selected to run for the position.

After 29 July 2022 and before 17 August 2022, applicants must complete the “Petition Process”:

  • Complete a petition form (downloadable form at the bottom of this page)
  • Obtain signatures from at least 5% of the chapter membership.
    • Official membership number as of May 31, 2022 was 9,290; thus, 464 signatures are required.
    • Each page of the petition must contain applicant’s name, PMI number, and the position sought.
    • Signatures on the petition must identify the name of the signer, both printed and signature, their PMI number, email address, and phone number.
  • Submit the signed petition to [email protected] by 5:00 PM (EST), 17 August 2022.
