Agile Waterfall

The first project where Thomas was leading a team 1984 to 1985 was a software development following a traditional approach, yet they were iterating and building the product in increments. And responded to changes and new ideas.

Indeed they were following a phased lifecycle, and read about waterfall as a mental concept. Yet, like all mental concepts, it was not meant to be followed without adaption. All mental concepts are wrong and some are useful, somebody said wisely. So he adapted their approach, for example they reviewed and adapted an already approved design document and made significant changes to the design.

Let’s explore how projects were done and successful even before anybody thought about agile.
