Janel Peterson, PMP, PMI-ACP President, PMI Western Idaho Chapter
Welcome to the PMI Western Idaho Chapter website!
As I wrap up my year as your President, I have mixed emotions leaving my role. While I will be moving to Past President, there are still so many things I wanted to accomplish. Fortunately, your incoming President, Colleen Sollars, is amazing and I will be working closely with her and the other Board members to continue improving upon the many good things that were accomplished. We held our first virtual Professional Development Day with better than expected attendance. We continued with our monthly lunch ‘n learns and dinner/networking events in a virtual environment. In fact, our attendance has been up for all of these events, because folks don’t have to travel [to a venue]. And, because we’ve been virtual, our speakers hail from across the country, which has really opened up possibilities for new and different topics. But, while I do love all of the online engagement, I’m still missing face to face interactions. We will have some form of face to face meetings, possibly even “hybrid” options, just as soon as local public health officials provide the green light.
New directors will be coming on board starting July 1, to join in on several initiatives already in the works. I am especially proud of our new Team PMIWIC community volunteer events like the Idaho Foodbank and Rake Up Boise. Regarding certification prep, we recently contracted with Pinnacle Professional Development to deliver our PMP boot camps. We created ways to earn no cost PDUs in our virtual environment, like PMIWIC Knowledge Drops and providing online access to educational presentations. As well as, we continue to collaborate with our other PMI Chapters so we can all benefit from each other’s expertise.
Please stay connected by joining our Facebook group, and by signing up for our newsletters. See what’s new and different and join us!
