Marvin Marin our second speaker will present “The role of Business Acumen in Delivering on Cybersecurity Projects”. Marvin will share the role of understanding Macro and Micro Influences; Contextualization of data-based decision making; Making sense of the big picture; What it means to deliver on a cybersecurity project; and practical application of strategy and tactics as applied to cybersecurity projects.

Speakers
Mr. Marvin Marin is a cybersecurity professional with over 20 years of experience in all facets of cybersecurity to include: risk management, risk assessment, governance, security operations, incident response, forensics, accreditation, and training. Mr. Marin has conducted and overseen technical engagements in cyber ranging from leading penetration testing efforts, developing operational procedures and managing against them for a global security operations center, developing forensics and incident response course ware for a government law enforcement client, and performing technical assessments and evaluations to support three (3) armed services components. Mr. Marin has most recently been employed by Booz Allen Hamilton as a Lead Associate in the role of Cybersecurity and IAM Oversight Technical Lead for the VA's Electronic Healthcare Record Modernization program. In this capacity, Mr. Marin is the contract lead over the Joint Cybersecurity Operations Integration Center (JCOIC). Mr. Marin built a team of 60 cybersecurity and engineering professionals to facilitate cybersecurity documentation through the VA to obtain a Defense Health Agency (DHA) Authority to Connect (ATC) and then work with the requisite Cerner and DHA engineering teams to connect interfaces to the federal enclave. Mr. Marin holds a DoD Top Secret clearance and public trust with the VA. Mr. Marin graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Cybersecurity and a Masters in Business Administration. Mr. Marin has a Master Certificate from Cornell University in Systems Design and Project Leadership. Mr. Marin is a published author and has contributed to a SANS Press book on Incident Response and numerous articles on cybersecurity topics. Mr. Marin is also an adjunct professor at UMGC teaching cloud
Uma Hiremagalur is a dynamic Servant Leader with extensive experience in global IT Management, Service Delivery, Organizational Change Management, Digital Transformation, Cloud Managed Services, Cyber Security, PMO, Portfolio, Program and Project Management. Uma is passionate about igniting the Next Gen community and “Make their dreams a Reality”. Uma volunteers for various organizations and is passionate about giving back to the community. Uma is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer/Chair Elect 2023 at the PMI Washington DC Chapter, the largest PMI chapter in the world! As a PMI Global volunteer, she has served as the Region Advisor Youth & Social Impact (R5 & R14 - MidAtlantic North America and The South North America & Caribbean). She has held various volunteer lead positions and on the Board of the PMI Washington DC Chapter as Vice President of Programs on the Operations Board, Director-at-Large on the Governance Board, VP Technology, and Chapter Liaison for PMIef. Uma is a champion for the DiscoverE’s Future City Program and has served as a judge for the past decade. She volunteered as teacher for Adult Immigrants’ English as a Second Language (ESL) at Intercambio Uniting Communities and the PMI Peru Chapter. Uma has a Master’s in Business Administration, Masters in Computer Information Systems and Bachelors in Finance and Commerce. She is PMI Leadership Institute Management Class (LIMC) 2019 alumni. Uma lives in the Washington DC Metro area and enjoys practicing pranayama and yoga, gardening, cooking, walking and nature photography. She has hiked the Machu Picchu Inca Trail and Kilimanjaro, and is looking forward to more adventures.
