Project Management Institute Washington DC (PMIWDC) Chapter partners with local universities to bring our chapter events to university students, young professionals, and our members in Washington, DC on a quarterly basis. Both Members and Non-Members are welcome to join us for the best speakers and networking the Washington DC area has to offer!
The presentations are educational and informative, targeted towards project management professionals, corporate and government leaders, and students looking to step into the field of project management. In every event, three speakers present on topics related to a specific area of the PMI Talent Triangle - Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen. There will be opportunity for networking and a panel Q&A. This approach allows participants to enhance their skills in each of these areas in one night!

Over 20 years of US Federal Government consulting for the Federal Reserve, US Department of Treasury, NASA, US Department of Commerce, US Department of Homeland Security in areas of Business Strategy, Systems Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technology Policy, & Management Consulting. Areas of focus include Big Data supply chains, analytics, data science, cloud & infrastructure planning/implementation & life-cycle engineering resulting in multi-billion dollars in federal savings opportunities. DC area local and UMD graduate. Over 20 years in humanities educational advocacy & consulting including guest lecturing, multi-decade strategic planning, curricula advisory, program design/management, & political advisory. Educational areas of focus including cross-cultural studies, comparative philosophy (Indian, Chinese, Greek), comparative theology, scriptural & textual hermeneutics, history of the religions of the world, ethno-linguistic families & ethnography of the world, & history of world religio-philosophical literature/institutions. Provides guidance to multiple religious and humanitarian institutions nationwide.
Tareka Wheeler
Driven results-oriented senior level professional and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) possessing more than 18 years of experience in project and program management, operations and strategic communications in both the public and private sector. Proven ability to design and manage programs and campaigns that positively impact an organization’s visibility and strategic direction, and complex projects. Extensive experience in developing and managing high-performing teams, and mentoring staff to position them for advancement. An innovative leader and communicator that thrives in fast-paced environments, and has excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Delvolae Matchett
Delvolae (Del-vahl-yae) Matchett Professional boxer who made it to the Washington DC Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005. Worked as a loan originator in real estate, learning how to qualify customers for mortgage loans. Using the same example in real estate, started a business administrative service in 2013 to serve small business contractors wanting to learn how to get qualified for contracts. Set out to help provide a strong work force in the industry of contracts. In 2016, started my first term at Purdue University to earn my bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 2021, he became a Purdue Global alumnus to better serve my customers, prove that I was serious about my new career in contracts and to be able to add value to the industry.
Uma Hiremagalur
Uma Hiremagalur, PMP Uma Hiremagalur is a dynamic Servant Leader with extensive experience in global IT Management, Service Delivery, Organizational Change Management, Digital Transformation, Cloud Managed Services, Cyber Security, PMO, Portfolio, Program and Project Management. Uma is passionate about igniting the Next Gen community and “Make their dreams a Reality”. Uma volunteers for various organizations and is passionate about giving back to the community. Uma is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer/Chair Elect 2023 at the PMI Washington DC Chapter, the largest PMI chapter in the world! As a PMI Global volunteer, she has served as the Region Advisor Youth & Social Impact (R5 & R14 - Mid-Atlantic North America and The South North America & Caribbean). She has held various volunteer lead positions and on the Board of the PMI Washington DC Chapter as Vice President of Programs on the Operations Board, Director-at-Large on the Governance Board, VP Technology, and Chapter Liaison for PMIef. Uma is a champion for the DiscoverE’s Future City Program and has served as a judge for the past decade. She volunteered as teacher for Adult immigrants’ English as a Second Language (ESL) at Intercambio Uniting Communities and the PMI Peru Chapter. Uma has a Master’s in Business Administration, Masters in Computer Information Systems and Bachelors in Finance and Commerce. She is PMI Leadership Institute Management Class (LIMC) 2019 alumni. Uma lives in the Washington DC Metro area and enjoys practicing pranayama and yoga, gardening, cooking, walking and nature photography. She has hiked the Machu Picchu Inca Trail and Kilimanjaro, and is looking forward to more adventures
