5-Year Strategic Plan

PMIWDC was chartered in 1978 and has grown to a membership of over 11,000, making it the largest PMI chapter in the world. As the organization evolves to accommodate its large and diverse Project Management community, the board is focused on ensuring we keep up with how PMI is changing globally, nurturing an environment of sustainment in membership while preparing for a new generation of project managers and prioritizing personal and professional development amongst its membership.

Beginning in the Fall of 2017, PMIWDC board members developed a new chapter strategy and board structure to make the organization more agile and adaptable. These changes are outlined in the 5-year strategic plan and revised bylaws accepted by the board and PMI, approved by membership and made effective January 2019.

As part of updating our strategic plan, we revised the mission and vision statements to more clearly articulate our objectives.

Mission—Help current and future project managers grow and be valued by our community

Vision—PMs Today Enabling a Better Tomorrow—where the success of individuals and organizations in our community is directly attributed to Project Management

Values—High-Impact Community Leaders

The Strategic Priorities that will govern our direction and approach include:

  • Educating PMs today to enable a better tomorrow
  • Promoting networking & volunteerism for the greater good of the PM community
  • Leveraging WDC proximity to promote PMI Global Initiatives

Over the next few months, we look forward to sharing the new and exciting changes that have already taken place and those in progress.
