For this event attendance, PMI Members will earn 1 Technical PDU.
This presentation will review the findings of recently completed Ph.D. research, which focused on interpersonal communications in engineering project virtual teams in the WA resources sector.
The research, which was undertaken through interviews with the members of a number of project teams at the height of the resources boom, has identified a number of ways in which the design and leadership of these teams can be optimized so that the teams are able to work better together, leading to more stable teams and more predictable project outcomes.
The findings of the research include the development of a model for communications in these teams, checklists for their establishment and operation and observations around the skills needed to be both a team member and an effective project manager.
We would also like to invite you to attend PMI Toastmasters, which meets immediately before the Chapter Meeting servicing the local community of project managers in Perth. Good leaders are good communicators. In Toastmasters you will improve your speaking skills and develop leadership abilities in order to become a better leader.
