What You Will Learn

Upon completion of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Develop fluid coaching techniques to meet the needs of diverse team members to support their individual needs and goals, including how to support team members who are reluctant to engage.

Description

Business coaching has evolved from fad to fundamental. Adopting coaching techniques into everyday interactions creates learning opportunities and empowers team members to develop new skills and competencies so everyone can keep up and adapt in constantly changing environments — exactly what is needed in our world of rapid change and unrelenting challenge.

This two-day immersive learning experience will introduce foundational practices to help you get started as a business coach and provide progressive coaching techniques on how to get the best out of reluctant team members, including how to manage un-coachable situations. 

Participants who complete the two-day training are eligible to schedule a one-hour personal coaching session with their instructor. Coaching sessions are designed to help participants apply what they learn and facilitate team growth and development through the art of coaching. Individual coaching sessions will be scheduled through Lisa DiTullio within 30 days of training. Coaching session price is $50 USD.

  • Setting the Stage for Coaching

    • Define the Project-Manager-as-Coach Role: Understand the dual role of project managers as both leaders and coaches, emphasizing how to facilitate team growth and development through the art of coaching.
    • Identify how Performance Relies on Environment: Recognize how to create supportive environments when coaching individuals from across different corporate cultures.
    • Tailor with Diversity and Coaching: How to design coaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and individual needs.
    • Start With Feedback: How to successfully give and receive feedback.
    • Transition From Feedback to Coaching: Introduce a simple model to guide coaching sessions.
    • Apply Listening and Inquiry Skills: How to strengthen listening skills and ask the right questions.
    • Use Accountability for Results: Best practices to keep others engaged and excited to deliver different results.
    • Practice/Debriefs: Engage in practice sessions to simulate real coaching conversations and discuss what worked, what did not and how to improve.
  • How to Coach Through All Situations

    • Dig Deeper to Achieve Potential: Learn about Practices to unlock unrealized potential in others
    • Using Advanced Communication Skills: Active versus. Disciplined listening; words to avoid and the power of paraphrasing to reduce resistance.
    • Adapting Coaching Styles: How to modify coaching styles for individual results.
    • Identify When Coaching Works nd When It Does Not: How to recognize someone who is un-coachable versus when coaching doesn’t work.
    • Practice/Debriefs: Engage in practice sessions to simulate challenging coaching conversations and discuss what worked, what did not and how to improve.

Lisa DiTullio

Lisa DiTullio is VP, Program & Portfolio Management at Foundation Medicine, a world-leading molecular insights company and is the founder of Your Project Office, a training and consulting organization dedicated to introducing project management as a business competency and enabling healthcare organizations to improve decision-making, instill accountability, and enhance communications.

Lisa is the author of multiple project management books, articles, and blogs. She is a recognized international speaker in her field and is known for her story-telling to impart messages that are both impactful and practical.

Lisa is a past member of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the past chair of the Women’s Business Connection. She is the founder of Leadership in Action, a program designed to create a sense of empowerment for high-school girls.

Lisa currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Cohasset Maritime Institute and is an avid (and sometimes competitive) open-water rower.
