For every project manager, knowing the “hard” skills of project management is only the beginning. The most challenging part is building proficiency in such critical areas as leadership, communication, team building, conflict resolution and negotiating for scarce resources or changes in scope. These skills contribute the most to the success or failure of any project. Project and program managers who master these skills are much more successful than those who don’t. The foundation for mastering these skills lies in understanding and harnessing the power of human emotions. This is where emotional intelligence come in.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to understand our emotions and those of others around us. It also includes the ability to use this awareness to manage our emotions and relationships. EQ affects how we manage our behaviors, navigate social complexities and make personal decisions that helps us achieve positive results. People with high emotional intelligence are very good at using empathy and constructive communication to create a collaborative and cooperative work environment. These group of skills are imperative for managing projects. Research has shown that EQ contributes up to 58% of workplace success.

As a project or program manager, this seminar will start you on the path of cultivating the necessary emotional and social skills that will help you motivate your teams to deliver excellent project results. You will discover how to work more effectively with your team members, including those with difficult and high-strung personalities. You will also learn how to keep your emotions in check, defuse tense situations, resolve conflicts and improve relationships within your project teams.

Prior to the seminar, you will take the world-renowned EQ-i 2.0 emotional intelligence talent assessment and receive a personalized report (click here for a sample). With your report in hand, this interactive seminar will help you evaluate where you are, and proffer specific behaviors and skills that will lead to increased EQ. As your level of emotional intelligence increases, you will begin to align yourself with opportunities that will give you success, and increase your effectiveness in every area of your professional and personal endeavors.

Seminar participants will be asked to complete EQ-i2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment and will work with their results during the session. Participants will be expected to complete the assessment approximately one week prior to the session, and will be contacted by their instructor with further instructions. 

The cost of this assessment is $125 and is included in your seminar fee. The assessment cost is non-refundable.

Sunny Faronbi PMP

A highly in-demand and respected keynote speaker, seminar leader and business coach, Sunny Faronbi’s professional experience of almost 3 decades across 4 continents continues to provide him with a wealth of knowledge and skills that he frequently draws from.

With an engineering background, Sunny began to learn what it takes to be a leader when he started leading teams of engineers and other professionals on projects across international boundaries. As a project manager, he realized that he needed to improved communication and leadership skills. His search led him to find the strong connections between emotional intelligence skills and leadership behaviors. As he learned and refined these skills, Sunny saw positive changes in his professional relationships. With his growth in these areas, the need arose for him to share what he learned in the areas of leadership, personal development and professional relationship building.

As a result, Sunny developed the passion to coach, mentor, teach, write and speak about leadership, communication and building trust within teams. He started Rehoboth Consulting, Inc. in 2009 as a platform for speaking, coaching and training on leadership and emotional intelligence. Sunny’s experience includes the service, technology, manufacturing and food & beverage industries. He has worked with companies such as John Deere, Siemens, Heineken and Anheuser-Busch.

Sunny holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Engineering Management degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He’s an IEEE (The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers) Senior Member, a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential holder since June 2006. Sunny is a certified Emotional Intelligence coach and a coach and speaker with The John Maxwell Team.
