About the Conference

PMI Global Conference in Los Angeles was more than a meeting. It was part of a week-long celebration of professional development and networking that brought together thousands of Project, Program and Portfolio practitioners, chapter leaders, and business professionals from around the world. Participants gained immediate applicable knowledge, acquired insights from leaders and peers, enhanced technical and strategic skills, and strengthened community. The conference featured top-notch keynote speakers, in-depth educational sessions, an exhibition space, and the PMI Professional Awards Gala.

    About Jon Dorenbos

    When Jon Dorenbos is on stage, through his unbelievable magic, he emphasizes the importance of choice and openly shares his childhood tragedy. Jon chose to rise through adversity, set goals, no matter how high, and plan and execute the necessary steps required to accomplish these goals. A two-time NFL Pro Bowler, Jon completed eleven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before being traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2017. The Eagles nominated Jon for the 2016 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for philanthropy and numerous charitable endeavors. As an entertainer for over twenty years, Jon is known as the NFL's “Magic Man" and is respectfully referred to as the "Entertainer's Entertainer". He inspires others by sharing his life experiences and NFL stories, relating them to corporate culture. He discusses the importance of discipline, teamwork, perseverance and the acceptance of failure in achieving a common goal. In his words, “Live in vision not circumstance”.

    Cam Marston is the leading expert on the impact of generational change and its impact on the marketplace. An author, columnist, blogger, and lecturer, Marston and his firm, Generational Insights, have provided research and consultation on generational issues to hundreds of companies and professional groups, as well as major professional associations, for over 20 years. Marston’s expertise has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and BusinessWeek, as well as on Good Morning America, CNN International, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and is a native and resident of Mobile, Alabama.

    Abigail Posner has spent her life catalyzing change and creating impact. Today, as Head of Strategic Planning at the ZOO, Google’s creative think tank for agencies and brands, Abigail’s role is to help advertisers and marketers make sense of human beings’ deep, emotional relationship to the digital space and convert those insights into strategic and creative efforts. While at Google, she launched an industry-first thought leadership series on human beings' emotional relationships with the digital space: Humanizing Digital. Prior to joining Google, Abigail was Executive Vice President, Strategy Director at Publicis New York, and Head of Strategic Planning at DDB New York.

    2018 PMI® Project of the Year Finalist: Project Legacy – Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Replacement Medical Center Activation

    New Orleans veterans and their families lost their healthcare facility after Hurricane Katrina destroyed it. The new facility, dubbed Project Legacy as a tribute to veterans, opened on time and under budget.

    2018 PMI® Project of the Year Finalist: McDonald's Digital Acceleration

    McDonald’s CEO told shareholders that in nine months, the restaurant chain would have a mobile order-and-pay app at 20,000 outlets worldwide. The team closed the project a month ahead of schedule and under budget. The app has accrued 20 million registered users in the U.S. alone.

    2018 PMI® Project of the Year Finalist: Horizonte 2

    The Brazilian paper company launched a US$2.7 billion project in 2015 to create the world’s largest bleached-eucalyptus pulp production line. Challenges included hiring 9,000 workers in a remote part of the country. The project closed two months early, US$500 million under budget and without a serious accident.
