Developing & Managing a Project Budget


The goal of this course is to orient professionals who have little or no training or experience in preparing a project budget. The course offers an overview of the interactive planning and monitoring activities that are used to prepare a realistic budget; control that budget; and deliver a project that meets time, cost, and performance goals.

  • Where budgeting fits in the context of overall project planning and management
  • How to develop a work breakdown structure (WBS) and why it is important
  • The interrelationships of resource planning; estimating; scheduling; budgeting; and controlling time, cost, and work progress
  • Tools and techniques that are used to identify resources, estimate costs, develop schedules and cost baselines, and monitor cost performance
