As more organizations have recognized the role that projects can play in helping them realize corporate strategies, many have successfully instituted advanced project management tools and techniques and subsequently matured their project management practice. Despite possessing such efforts, many of these companies have found that their project managers approach each new project by starting from scratch, by reinventing what already exists. This article explains the significance of practicing knowledge management. In doing so, it discusses how organizations can use three different technology platforms to capture lessons learned, encourage dialogues, and generate new knowledge, platforms that include intranets, wikis, and blogs. It describes the advantages of using each platform.
