Scope management on an automotive tooling project

In response to the need to get new products to market faster, manufacturers have embraced program planning and management.Defining, maintaining, and communicating project scope for the production die tooling portion of a major automotive product program has been one way to try to demonstrate how to reduce lead time required by the die production planning process.A clear understanding of the scope is an important step in developing a detailed program plan.The scope must support the overall vehicle plan program objectives, provide sufficient detail to be applicable to those who are responsible for program execution, and provide the basis for communication to other program participants.The scope must be listed in terms of both parts and tools.
