The challenge of project management

Managing projects successfully involves more than meeting time and cost requirements, it also entails managing the project's many areas of uncertainty. This article examines eleven areas of project uncertainty, and in doing so, it outlines methods for minimizing the impact of uncertainty on the total project, methods that relate to such areas as investment estimates, process design, building and managing project teams, controlling costs and contingencies, developing and following realistic schedules, and decision-making.
