Nucor's strategic project : an interview with Keith Busse, "project manager" / preface by Richard Kimball. This article features a question-and-answer interview with the vice president and general manager of Nucor, a steel manufacturer using a complex matrix system to operate 23 plants and manage 4,600 employees. It examines the processes Nucor used to plan, design, and build an innovative, Indiana-based (USA) flat rolled product steel plant, processes that involve personnel management, planning, organizational structure, procurement, strategy, success factors, project reviews, and team meetings. It also describes the process Nucor used to select the team responsible for developing the new steel plant.
