Every project manager needs a special partner they can trust, a partner who plays the role of adviser and close friend, a partner to whom the project manager can share their doubts, frustrations, and problems. This special partner is also someone who encourages the project manager--over years, not just during a single project--to achieve success, both professionally and personally. This paper examines how the team that operates a project management office (PMO) can function as a project manager’s special partner. It explains how the PMO team can help project managers resolve the challenges of working on internal projects and working with external clients.
