PMI Volunteers Make an Impact on the World

Future Plus & PMI Bring you the Sustainable Home Working Guide

We have partnered together to bring sustainable awareness to PMI. In doing so, we’ve created an easy resource to guide you through making positive sustainable decisions while working from home. COVID-19 has dramatically changed the way we work for the long-term with most of us working remote. With these changes, it is hugely important to consider the impact of home working as part of the overall environmental impact of our organization.

ESG Materiality Assessment

Identifying and Acting on What Matters Most

At PMI, we recognize that our activities – and the way we carry them out – have impacts that reach beyond our financial performance. As a best practice to better manage nonfinancial risks and opportunities, we need to engage in discourse and find ways to align our broader business performance and both our positive and negative societal impact with the expectations of our stakeholders and the larger project management community. To achieve this, a thorough and deep understanding of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics that matter most to our stakeholder groups (Board of Directors, Leadership Team, Staff, Chapters, and Volunteers) is essential. Understanding their views on the topics affecting our organization will enable us to better address any concerns, exchange constructively on challenges and, in the end, better manage the enterprise.

To help define the most important ESG issues for PMI, our partner, The Sustainability Group, LTD., will be conducting our first global materiality assessment mid-February 2024; with an intent to review every two years. The on-line survey will consist of around 15-25 questions that cover a range of topics spanning the different ESG themes of climate, social, economic, environment, and DE&I, and address two overarching questions: (1) How significantly do sustainability-related issues affect our ability to perform and grow enterprise value and (2) how significantly does our business model and activities affect others? Note that participation is completely voluntary with no financial compensation. Respondents may drop out at any time without recourse.

The goal is to determine the ESG issues most relevant to PMI and our stakeholders. As an action-learning activity, we want not only to determine the ESG issues most relevant to our internal and external stakeholders, but to understand what contributes to our capability development and ESG integrated performance management that can be linked to organizational strategy, targets, and reporting. In other words, this activity will enable us to capture our impacts in a non-financial manner, helps us prioritize impacts on which to focus, and inform our strategic thinking.

This first report will be published here by the end of Q2 2024. For questions or additional information, feel free to contact David Urias, Director of Social Impact Strategy & Performance or Taina Silva, Senior Sustainability Executive, The Sustainability Group, LTD.
