What is the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)?
The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. It’s a call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance the societal goals.
Why is PMI a member of the UNGC?
Through our membership with the UNGC, PMI has an opportunity to connect with other organizations with aligned goals; to network, share ideas, and to learn and grow from them. With our vast global community, PMI can help educate businesses to be more sustainable through project and programs and drive outcomes that lead to advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).

What are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
In September 2015, all 193 Member States of the UN adopted a plan for achieving a better future for all — laying out a path over the next 15 years to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and protect our planet. At the heart of “Agenda 2030” are the 17 SDGs that clearly define the world they wanted — applying to all nations and leaving no one behind.
The multi-year strategy of the UNGC is to drive business awareness and action in support of achieving the SDGs by 2030.
The SDGs provide a powerful aspiration for improving our world - laying out where we collectively need to go and how to get there.
