    Welcome to The Project Economy

Today, the way we work has changed. And PMI is changing with it. We’re broadening our focus from project management to a world in which people and organizations take on various roles and approaches to deliver products, projects and value streams. We call this new way of working The Project Economy. We power The Project Economy, strengthening society by enabling organizations and empowering individuals to make ideas a reality.

Coming Soon: PMI Ranks the 50 Most Influential Projects of the Past 50 Years

What's a world without projects? A world without architectural marvels, medical breakthroughs, must-see mega events or advancements in technology. And what's behind every great project? A great project team.

To celebrate our 50th anniversary, PMI is ranking the 50 most #influential projects of the past half-century. As a bonus, we also identified the 10 most influential projects in the areas of architecture, biotech, entertainment, finance, gaming, government, health, infrastructure, mobility, renewable energy, space and technology—as well as the top 10 projects in India and China.

The Most Influential Projects lists identify efforts that changed the world we live in, shaped our lives, and altered the DNA of the organizations that launched them. Thousands of projects were considered, with only a small proportion meeting our standards: Did they defy expectations and transform an industry or our culture in ways that continue to reverberate?

The list will be unveiled at PMI’s global conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 7 October 2019. It will also be highlighted in both a special custom-designed website and a special edition of PMI’s award-winning PM Network® print magazine.

Please help us spread the word about this new initiative by selecting among and sharing the social media posts listed in the “Share This!” section below.

PMI Atlanta Celebrates an Important Milestone

On Sept 9, 2019, the PMI Atlanta Chapter took pleasure in celebrating a historic milestone: PMI’s 50th Anniversary!  PMI's first formal meeting was at Georgia Tech, in the fall of 1969. The PMI Atlanta Chapter honored the “birthplace” of PMI by holding this special event at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center. James Snyder, PMI Founder, lifted the mood of the audience with his charismatic personality. Mr. Snyder reflected on the past, explaining the motivation for founding PMI, while explaining how far the organization has come in the last 50 years. The PMI Atlanta chapter leaders, Nagendra Roy, Nara Acharya, and Kashif Choudry spoke about the importance of giving back to the community as part of PMI’s Celebration of Service, and how this has been put into action with the local chapter efforts related to the PM Day of Service. This was a fun evening for all; the members departed feeling motivated about not only the future of the profession, but also the potential in leaving a positive impact in our communities!
