Uploading Courses to the EPP

ATPs should create and maintain professional development units (PDU) and Specialty courses on the Education Provider Portal (EPP). This allows public courses to be searchable. This also assigns the PDU code for the course so students can claim their earned PDUs post-course completion. Please visit the EPP User Guide for more information on creating and managing courses on the EPP.

Course Catalog Compliance Issues

Due to a recent uptick in non-compliant courses being posted to the course catalog, we implemented new rules that started on 1 March. First-time violations will receive a notification regarding the non-compliance issue. Second-time violations will result in all active, in-review, and newly submitted courses being removed from the course catalog for 30 days.

The PMI Talent Triangle®

To help project professionals navigate this changing world of work and embrace smarter ways of working, we’ve updated the sides of the PMI Talent Triangle® to now focus on new ways of working, business acumen, and power skills.

  • Regardless of industry, PMI believes professionals at every level of an organization need to make good decisions, have influence with different stakeholder groups, and be empowered to choose the best way of working for any given situation.
  • To prepare for a future that is coming faster than ever, we see the power of melding the core insights of project management with three skill categories: a diverse understanding of the new ways of working, business acumen, and power skills.
    • Ways of Working (previously the “Technical Project Management” side): Whether it’s predictive, agile, design thinking, or new practices still to be developed, it's clear that there is more than one way that work gets done today. That’s why we encourage professionals to master as many ways of working as they can — so they can apply the right technique at the right time, delivering winning results.
    • Business Acumen (previously the “Strategic and Business Management” side): Professionals with business acumen understand the macro and micro influences in their organization and industry and have the function- or domain-specific knowledge – to make good decisions. Professionals at all levels need to be able to cultivate effective decision-making and understand how their projects align with the big picture of broader organizational strategy and global trends.
    • Power Skills (previously the “Leadership” side): These interpersonal skills include collaborative leadership, communication, an innovative mindset, for-purpose orientation, and empathy. Ensuring teams have these skills allows them to maintain influence with a variety of stakeholders – a critical component for making change.
  • The new Talent Triangle graphics are available on the Authorized Training Partner Marketing Portal.

PMI ATP Program members may use the PMI Talent Triangle word mark and logo on websites and promotional materials. The wordmark “The PMI Talent Triangle” is a registered mark of PMI, so the registered (®) symbol is to be used. The PMI Talent Triangle image is an unregistered mark, and the trademark () symbol is to be used in the lower right outside corner. The graphics are on the ATP Marketing Portal.

Important Information

PDU Course Catalog Maintenance

Update courses in the course catalog to provide relevant and meaningful programs to certificate holders. Things to consider:

  • Have the course content and listing been updated within the last 3 years? If not, take action!
  • Do you still have a PMP® Prep course as a PDU course? If so, retire this course and upload it as a Specialty course today!
  • Are there courses in the catalog you no longer offer but still show as active? If so, take action and retire or inactivate the course.

PMP Prep Courses and PDUs

PMI implemented the capability to grant PDU’s for PMP Prep courses on March 3, 2023. As a result, courses that were created prior to this date cannot be edited to add new sessions. We recommend that you create a new PMP Specialty course.

The current template on the Education Provider Portal will grant PDU credits for any PMP certification holder taking this course as well as any new credential candidates.

Additional sessions can be added to the new courses that you registered since March 3, 2023 and these sessions do not require review and approval. You will still be able to copy and paste any of the descriptions or learning objectives from courses that were added prior to March 3, 2023.

PDU Catalog Review

At this time, many PDU courses listed as PMP Exam Prep are being retired. As an Authorized Training Partner, PMP Exam Prep courses must be entered as Specialty courses, not as PDU courses. Please refer to the EPP guide for additional instructions.
