Dr. Kelly Heuer
As Vice President of Learning at the Project Management Institute (PMI), Dr. Kelly Heuer brings more than two decades of experience in higher education to lead PMI’s Learning division. She oversees a global portfolio that includes professional standards and publications, live and enterprise training, and a wide array of digital and on-demand learning products. Together, these offerings equip project professionals worldwide with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to drive project success.
A lifelong learner herself, Kelly holds multiple degrees in philosophy, including an Artium Baccalaureus from Harvard University and a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy from Georgetown University. She began her professional journey in academia at Georgetown, where she played a pivotal role in launching the university’s inaugural ‘Massive Open Online Course’ (MOOC) in bioethics and co-founded its ethics and social innovation lab. She most recently served as Vice President of Learning Experience at edX, overseeing the development of learning strategies and helped drive digital learning innovation across the company portfolio.
As the first member of her family to pursue higher education, Kelly is dedicated to mentoring other first-generation students. She also provides interview coaching to formerly incarcerated individuals and offers support and mentorship to colleagues in academia exploring alternative career paths. Kelly resides in Brooklyn with her partner Arjun, an industrial designer, and their two children, chess enthusiast Kiran, and aspiring explorer Ryan.
