PMI offers diverse volunteer opportunities that cater to various interests, skills, and goals. Whether you prefer short-term or long-term commitments, in-person or virtual roles, or individual or team efforts, there's a place for you to make an impact
Volunteer for a local PMI chapter
With a network of 300+ chapters and over 3,500 active volunteers, PMI chapters offer leadership roles on chapter boards and flexible positions supporting chapter operations, events, and initiatives
Volunteer as an individual contributor
Support the project management profession by contributing to the development of our standards and certification exams, product testing, content creation and delivery, and more.
Volunteer to work on a team
More than 200 volunteers serve on global teams annually, many in roles lasting 2-3 years, to support key PMI initiatives. Examples include:
- Insight Teams: Collaborate with the PMI team on critical areas like certification, standards, and diversity, equity and inclusion, supporting future generations of Project Managers
- Committees: Assist with PMI outreach and advisory tasks.
- Stakeholder Working Groups: Provide expertise as an SME on specific PMI initiatives
Volunteer to inspire youth
For over 30 years, the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) has equipped youth with project management skills. Engage in pro bono work or help youth-serving not-for-profit partners locally, globally, and virtually.
Volunteer for social good
Project Managers Without Borders (PMWB) empowers not-for-profit with project management expertise to drive impactful change. Volunteer your skills as an individual or connect your organization to partner with PMWB to support sustainable initiatives worldwide.
Serve on the PMI Board of Directors
As a dedicated member, you have the opportunity to be elected to the PMI Board of Directors. Chosen by PMI members, the Board, consisting of 12 individuals, collaborates with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction and vision of PMI.
