Path to a PMI-RMP certification

Before you apply, make sure you meet one of the following sets of PMI-RMP certification requirements:

Set A requirements

  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent)
  • 36 months of project risk management experience within the last 5 years
  • 40 hours of project risk management education

Set B requirements

  • Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • 24 months of project risk management experience within the last 5 years
  • 30 hours of project risk management education

      Maintaining your PMI-RMP certification

      Earning your PMI-RMP certification is a big step - maintaining it shouldn't have to be. Continuing education is core to PMI certification. PMI-RMP holders need to earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3-year cycle to maintain certification. Each PDU represents one hour spent:
