Projects on Purpose

Bring impact home.

Around the world, communities are working to overcome challenges, create opportunities and build a better future. These are the stories of what happens when nonprofit expertise meets project management excellence.

What is Projects on Purpose?

Projects on Purpose is PMI's social impact initiative, showcasing how our global community — chapters, volunteers, and educators — drives meaningful change through Project Managers Without Borders (PMWB) and PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF). Together, they help organizations turn ambitious goals into measurable outcomes, strengthen their impact, and create lasting change for the communities they serve.

These stories reveal what project management skills can truly give back to the world.

Whether supporting nonprofits, empowering youth through project-based learning or mobilizing local volunteers, the PMI community is turning vision into impact. Through PMWB and PMIEF, project management skills become a tangible force for change — across communities and for the individuals within them.

Our Mission

To bring impact home by connecting purpose-driven organizations and future leaders with the people, skills and support needed to make them real.

Why it matters

  • Nonprofits and NGOs
Nonprofits are mission-driven but often lack the resources and capacity to scale.

PMI provides structure, strategy and skilled support to accelerate their impact.

  • The Profession
Project Professionals have the skills to solve real-world challenges.

Projects on Purpose shines a light on the individuals and chapters who bring their skills where they are needed most.

  • Our Chapters
Chapters want to give back but need clear pathways to act.

Projects on Purpose provides tools, frameworks and proven models to drive local impact.

  • Life-long Learning
Education empowers people to create lasting change in their lives and communities.

PMI helps people of all ages — from young students to seasoned professionals — grow their skills, confidence and opportunities at every stage of their career.
