For leading the way in boosting the U.K.’s National Health Service capacity
Senior Project Manager at Lexica | London, United Kingdom
As part of a solution to a national hospital bed shortage and to reduce patient waiting lists, the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) launched a £250 million (over $326.7 million) capacity-boosting program to motivate organizations to build and expand between 900 and 5,000 new beds across multiple healthcare centers and hospitals.
Hollie Chapman, senior project manager for Lexica—a healthcare and life sciences consultancy—not only rose to this challenge, she went so far above she received an award for young professionals in project management. Her project was a £10 million ($13 million), 20-bed modular ward extension at Peterborough City Hospital for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
Seeing this project through required coordination between multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, the NHS Foundation Trust, and private construction firms.
Hollie explains that the keys to her success included establishing communication channels and reporting methods with the interim project director and ensuring clear lines of communication for essential aspects such as time, cost, and quality.
