Asset Management Roles and Responsibilities

There are two primary roles that are pertinent to asset management. Remember that these are roles, not positions. Small organizations may have a single person taking on both of these roles whereas a large organization could have dozens of fine-grained positions. Remember, context counts. We define the following roles for Disciplined Agile® (DA™) asset management:

  1. Asset engineer. Works closely with teams to harvest potentially reusable assets and to integrate existing assets into their work. May also develop, evolve, support, and retire assets. Also known as a reuse engineer.
  2. Asset manager. Asset managers lead, manage, and govern the acquisition and application of assets within your organization.
