Using a project management approach when realizing projects provides project managers with the structure they need to most effectively evaluate project performance. This article examines the process of evaluating projects. It discusses the causes and issues that have driven the development of project evaluation processes and examines the process of evaluating projects in relation to the types of evaluation impediments (psychological, organizational, methodological), the elements of successful evaluations, and the factors and measures of quality evaluations. It then describes the aspects of project management that facilitate evaluations and explains the competencies that link management and project management processes, competencies that also show the differences and similarities between project managers and evaluators.
