Soft skills quantification (SSQ) for project manager competencies

The methods used to measure the soft skills that are so vital for project success have been, to date, subjective and nonsystematic. This paper examines a model for objectively performing a soft skills quantification (SSQ) and effectively predicting project manager performance. In doing so, it overviews the field's literature on the significance of soft skills and identifies four types of soft skills models; it notes the field's lack of measures for quantifying soft skills competence and describes the three methods--behavioral interviewing, self-assessment, and success profile competency set--that are most commonly used for gauging soft skills performance. It then outlines the proposed SSQ model, discussing how the authors developed this model and used it to evaluate the soft skills competence for 14 engineering professionals.
