Roger Martella
Chief Corporate Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at GE Vernova
Roger Martella is Chief Corporate Officer at GE Vernova, serving on the Executive Leadership Team as Head of Global Government Affairs and Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer. He works with leading public and private sector leaders to address energy affordability, reliability, security, and sustainability. Before joining GE in 2017, Roger was General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency during the George W. Bush Administration (unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate) and Principal Counsel for Complex Litigation at the Department of Justice’s Natural Resources Section, where he won every case he litigated. He also co-led Sidley Austin LLP’s global environmental and climate change practices and was recognized by peers as the top environmental lawyer globally. Roger is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of the Atlantic Council, ClearPath Foundation, American Conservation Coalition, and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, among others. He holds a BS from Cornell University and a JD from Vanderbilt Law School, where he was Editor in Chief of the Vanderbilt Law Review. Roger grew up in Norristown, Pennsylvania, working in his family’s corner Italian bakery.
