Ike Nwankwo Board Perspectives

Dear PMI Community,

Happy new year!

First, let me begin by thanking you all, our members, chapters, volunteers, employees and the project community, for your tremendous support throughout 2025. I know that 2026 holds even greater promise, and I look forward to us working together throughout this year.

As we begin the year, I want you to be aware of a very important event that shapes the future of our organization and our profession: The PMI Board of Directors nomination and election process. This process selects experienced individuals within our membership to be on the ballot so you can vote on who you want to serve on the PMI Board of Directors to oversee the strategic direction and governance of PMI.

If you’re thinking of taking part in the nomination and election process, or you know someone who should, I encourage you to take that step and do so, as being a member of the PMI Board of Directors is a remarkable opportunity to serve our members, our profession, and our community, globally.

Here are a few details to take note of:

  • The PMI Board is composed of 12 dedicated global volunteers, who are elected by the full PMI membership.
  • The nomination process runs from 26 January through 20 February, and the formal voting and elections will take place in June.
  • The election will select 4 directors to serve 3-year terms beginning January 2027 through December 2029.

The role of the Board is really vital. We work together with the PMI Executive Team to deliver on our strategy, strengthen our commitment to sustainability and innovation, and pursue our purpose of maximizing project success to elevate our world. Most importantly, the Board exemplifies our PMI cultural values and advocates on behalf of project professionals and the project profession worldwide.

I encourage all qualified and motivated PMI members to consider stepping forward and applying. Your contribution can make a lasting difference for our community. The strength of our Board comes from diverse voices committed to PMI’s purpose. Now is your opportunity to lead, to inspire, and to help shape PMI’s vision for the future. Do apply and let your leadership make an impact.

For further details, please reference this page to learn more and please do ensure you submit your nominations before 20 February!

On behalf of the PMI Board of Directors, we thank you for considering this opportunity and we wish you the very best and a happy and successful 2026!
