David Cumberbatch is a global education and technology executive with more than 20 years of experience driving strategy, growth, and transformation across mission-driven organizations and high-growth businesses. He is recognized for building customer-centric operating models, scaling partnerships, and translating emerging technology into practical products and services that strengthen workforce readiness and long-term career outcomes.

David is a seasoned senior executive whose career spans K–12 education, higher education, and workforce development. He has held prominent leadership roles across the public, nonprofit, and private sectors, including serving as a Senior Advisor at the Gates Foundation. In this role, he supported strategies to expand access and impact, and leverage AI across K-12 education.

Previously, David served as Chief Strategy Officer at Stride, Inc. (formerly K12, Inc.), where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s strategy beyond core schooling into career readiness and lifelong learning. He also served as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at ACT, where he helped lead the organization’s digital transformation and brand repositioning, supporting the evolution of assessment, credentials, and career readiness solutions.

Earlier in his career, David held leadership roles at Microsoft and Procter & Gamble, experiences that shaped his disciplined, market-backed approach to innovation, execution, and customer-centric operating models. He is widely respected for building inclusive, high-performance cultures and for developing teams that pair strategic clarity with strong operational follow-through.

David holds a BA (Hons) in Computing and Economics from the University of Kent and an MPhil in Management Studies from the University of Oxford, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. He has also completed executive education programs at Kellogg, Harvard Business School, and The Wharton School, in addition to multiple Coursera programs.

A U.S. citizen born in Trinidad and Tobago, David lives in Iowa with his wife and their two sons, who are currently in law school and college.
