Project managers eager to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness now have a unique opportunity to do so with a new solution specifically tailored to project management. Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading organization for the project management profession, launched PMI Infinity, the project managers’ on-the-job partner, leveraging sources generated and vetted by PMI’s global community of professionals. The resource is free for all project professionals until February 12, 2024 – they just need to create a free PMI registered account.
Despite widespread reports of organizations heavily investing in AI, the 2023 PMI Annual Global Survey on Project Management found that only 21% respondents are using AI always or often when managing projects. Compared to the 82% of senior leaders who say AI will have at least some impact on projects, there’s a disconnect between current and aspirational use. Project professionals need to embrace and experiment with AI, and PMI Infinity provides a trusted and easily accessible AI-powered resource they can use on the job.
“This isn’t like AI agents that search the internet to answer questions,” said Pierre Le Manh, PMP, President & Chief Executive Officer at PMI. “Project managers can rely on PMI Infinity. It uses trusted and vetted project management content shaped by our global community of professionals. It’s the latest step in our mission to help project professionals embrace AI, following the strong launch of our free ‘Generative AI Overview for Project Managers’ e-learning course. We are developing a whole set of learning tools and support platforms to help project professionals leverage AI responsibly.”
PMI Infinity uses smart navigation and recommended prompts to encourage deep exploration of more than 14,000 pieces of PMI content, including best practices like work breakdown structures and important project management concepts like risk management. PMI Infinity delivers interactive and detailed responses citing the original sources, creating a conversational and trusted experience. Project professionals can use PMI Infinity to boost and reinforce their understanding of complex subject matter, all while leveraging the newest technology.
This is just the first iteration of PMI Infinity. Continuous rolling updates will include enhanced features, like prompt editing and source prioritization. Starting February 12,2024, PMI Infinity and future versions will be restricted to PMI Members. Becoming a PMI Member will help users avoid a lapse in access to PMI Infinity, as well as other benefits like free webinars and discounted events to earn PDUs and opportunities to connect with like-minded professionals.
