Gordie Howe International Bridge: Connecting People, Nations and Commerce

The Canadian Government commissioned non-profit Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority to oversee one of the largest infrastructure projects in North America – the construction and operation of The Gordie Howe International Bridge. Its scope includes new ports of entry and inspection facilities for the Canadian and US governments, toll collection facilities, and improvements and modifications to several local bridges and roadways. It also includes an award-winning environmental, social, and governance program offering benefits for stakeholders, operators, users, and the wider community.
An initial review highlighted the need for sound project management practices; it was agreed the project delivery partner company Bridging North America would manage the project in accordance with PMI’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
The project is making good progress towards its completion goal in 2024.
