PMI-RMP® Exam Updates
About the Upcoming Changes to the PMI-RMP
The PMI-RMP exam is evolving to meet today’s demands of the profession, organizations and you.
The new PMI-RMP exam will cover updated terminology and processes, as well as enterprise-level risks the candidate needs to be knowledgeable about to be successful in project risk management. While the exam will have the same number of questions and will be approximately the same length, it will have new multiple select questions. Predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches will be found throughout the tested domains. Lastly, upon the release of the updated exam expected in April 2022, candidates will have the option to take the exam in either English or Arabic.
The new exam covers the following five domains:
- Risk Strategy and Planning
- Risk Identification
- Risk Analysis
- Risk Response
- Monitor and Close Risks
PMI-RMP Pilot Exam Information
Every time PMI prepares to launch a new exam, we offer candidates the opportunity to take the new exam before it launches as part of our exam pilot program, a critical step in launching a new exam. Candidates who opt to take the PMI-RMP pilot exam are the first professionals to see the new exam.
In addition to being the first to see the new exam, PMI-RMP candidates who opt to take the pilot exam will receive a 20% rebate and one free re-take of the new exam if they do not pass the pilot exam. The re-take will be available after the April 2022 release. Candidates will not receive their scores automatically; they may wait 1-2 months before receiving their score. Candidates will receive their rebate approximately 6 weeks after the close of the pilot.
The PMI-RMP pilot exam will only be available in English. When the exam is fully released in April 2022, it will also be offered in Arabic. The pilot exam will be available via center-based testing (CBT) and online proctored testing (OPT).
The new PMI-RMP Exam Content Outline document is available to the right. This will include all the domains, tasks, and enablers tested on the exam. It will also include a list of suggested reference materials to study for the updated exam.
