Artificial intelligence/expert systems (AI/ES) software can help project managers capture their experiences of managing projects so that they can share such experiences with others. The software also offers the field the opportunity to transmit key information such as PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). This article explains how project managers can use AI/ES to more effectively practice project management. In doing so, it reviews the principles defining AI and ES and describes a process for creating an ES system. It then lists the ways that project managers can use AI when managing projects and details an AI/ES process called Project Management Advantage (PMA), identifying its features, user advantages, and future possibilities.
