Linking Agreement

Project Management Institute, Inc. encourages other associations, business organizations, and individuals interested in project management to provide information links from their Internet websites to PMI’s website.

By linking to PMI’s web pages, you agree to the following terms:

  1. Usage.
    1. PMI links must be placed only on approved webpages, and must never be placed on “home” or “about me” sections.
      1. PMI links must never be placed in a “frame” within your own website, without specific permission from PMI.
    2. Permitted users must adhere to the rules set forth in the Logo Usage Guidelines, as provided by PMI.
  2. Trademark Presentation.
    1. All uses of PMI marks and copyrighted materials must conform in all respects to PMI’s Intellectual Property Proper Use Guidelines.
    2. Permitted users must only use the complete PMI Logo, as approved and provided by PMI.
      1. No substitute logos may be used, and component pieces of the logo may not be used on their own.
    3. The symbol must be used whenever the PMI Logo appears, and the following attribution statement must be linked to, and identified with, the first appearance of the logo and/or PMI mark:
      1. If linking with the PMI Logo: “The PMI logo is a trademark of Project Management Institute, Inc.”
      2. If linking with a PMI Mark: “ ‘PMI’ and ‘Project Management Institute’ are registered marks of Project Management Institute, Inc.”
  3. Proper Form of Link.
    1. All approved information links must include one of the following: the company names “Project Management Institute, Inc.,” and the letters “PMI,” or the PMI URL, or the PMI logo.
  4. No Alteration or Misrepresentation.
    1. Permitted users must not use or alter any PMI logo or trademark in any manner to make it appear that PMI is endorsing, sponsoring or affiliated with any individual or company, except as expressly permitted by PMI.
  5. Protection of Marks.
    1. Permitted users are prohibited from using the PMI logo or names in a manner that is likely to cause confusion with or dilute or damage the reputation or image of PMI, or any of its affiliates, or any of their products. The PMI logo and/or names must not be displayed on your web site more prominently than your own marks or logos.
    2. Permitted users may not apply to register a mark that is the same or similar to a PMI trademark.
    3. Permitted users may not challenge the trademark ownership rights of PMI.
  6. No Objectionable Content.
    1. No part of the permitted user’s web site will contain, or link to, content that may be interpreted as libelous, obscene or criminal, or which may infringe or violate any third-party rights.
  7. No Negative References.
    1. All use of this grant inures to the benefit of PMI
      1. Permitted users agree not to make negative or disparaging references to PMI, its services or its members or otherwise compare PMI, its services or its members unfavorably to others.
  8. Indemnification.
    1. Permitted users agree to indemnify, defend and hold PMI harmless from and against any and all third-party claims or causes of action brought against PMI as a result of the rights granted hereunder, or in connection with any claim arising out of any breach by you of the foregoing representations and warranties, including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and costs.
  9. Right to Terminate.
    1. PMI may at any time, in its sole discretion, without notice, with or without cause, immediately terminate its consent to use the PMI logo and/or names and to link to the PMI website.
    2. The consent granted to you hereunder shall terminate automatically if, at any time, you are in violation of this Linking Agreement. Upon PMI’s termination of its consent, you will immediately, following PMI’s request via email, remove all links and cease using the logo and/or names.
  10. Non-Transferable.
    1. This agreement is not transferable.
  11. Non-Exclusive.
    1. This grant to link is non-exclusive, limited, and revocable (as described above in Section 9).
  12. Governing Law.
    1. This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  13. Amendment in Writing.
    1. This agreement cannot be altered or modified except by email notice to the user and/or by PMI changing its web site policy and giving notice of that change to the linking party. PMI reserves the right to amend its policy at any time. Any continuation of the link after notice of the change will be deemed acceptance of the modification.
  14. No permission to use PMI’s Logo to link to PMI's web site may be assumed. Your registration information will be verified by PMI and permission acknowledged by e-mail.
  15. A grant to link only responds to a request to link and does not constitute an endorsement of the requestor's company name, domain name or email address.
