And each is an opportunity to earn professional development units (PDUs) that you can apply to certification renewals.

Path to PMI-CP certification
Before you apply, make sure you meet the following certification requirements:
Eligibility requirements
- Complete the four course training modules
- 3 years of on-the-job experience in construction projects or built environment projects Must be within the past 10 years
Where holders drive success
Maintaining your certification
Earning your certification is a big step — maintaining it shouldn't have to be. Continuing education is core to PMI certification. PMI-CP holders need to earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3-year cycle to maintain certification. Each PDU represents one hour spent:

- Teaching others
- Presenting
- Reading
- Volunteering
- Content creating
Build Your Skills Through Advanced Courses
After attaining the PMI-CP, you can enrich your skills through three engaging and self-paced courses. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a well-deserved certificate recognizing your accomplishment.
These advanced courses are designed for higher-level skill development for senior-level professionals. Each self-paced module is a 6–10-hour commitment. PDUs earned from these courses can be applied to certification renewals.
While not mandatory for the PMI-CP certification and capstone exam, these courses pave the way for you to ascend to the next level by obtaining the PMI-SCP™.
