Overview
Agile. A buzzword? An approach? A way of thinking? Yes. It’s all of these things—and more—and you may have even heard it enough that you’re starting to think it is yesterday’s fad. Think again! Agile development simply means operating successfully within a change-driven environment. The agile mindset has come of age as demonstrated by the acceptance of agile methods in both the private and public sectors. Originally documented as a set of software-development methodologies, the project management industry has come to accept the reality that we are all working within a change-driven environment.
Project development life cycles—from predictive (waterfall) through iterative to adaptive (agile)—have a doctrine for dealing with change. They vary from resistance to open acceptance, but the one constant is change. How we deal with dynamic inputs and moving targets often marks the difference between success and failure.
In this training, we will explore the Agile Practice Guide (PMI, 2017). This revolutionary work is the result of the first collaboration between Agile Alliance and PMI. It’s an exciting time in the evolution of project management practices. Whether you are at the beginning of your project management journey or an experienced practitioner thinking about “going agile,” this training will help you apply flexibility through the values and principles of agile to a wide spectrum of project management challenges.
