PMI Certification Requirements Reduced for Graduates of GAC Accredited Programs 

The PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) is excited to announce that effective with the release of the new PMI certification application, graduates of a GAC accredited program are granted substantial credit toward the experience requirement when they complete an application for any PMI certification. This new benefit applies retroactively to the degree program’s initial accreditation date. The benefit applies to each PMI certification as follows:

Credential Reduction in professional experience required for
graduates of GAC accredited programs
Project Management Professional (PMP)® 12 months reduction to project management experience
Program Management Professional (PgMP)® 12 months reduction for program management experience
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)® 12 months reduction for portfolio management experience
PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)® 12 months reduction to business analysis experience
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® 12 months reduction to general project experience
* Need to show 8 months agile team experience
PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® 12 months reduction to risk management experience
PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)® 12 months reduction to project scheduling experience

How to Access this New Benefit?

Graduates of GAC accredited programs will be able to access this benefit easily when they fill out the application for any of the PMI certifications listed above. On the “Academic Education” tab of the certification application, select the university you attended, and select the accredited program from the drop-down. The reduction in work experience will be automatically deducted from the “Experience” tab within the application.
