PMI® Global Summit 2025, PMI’s annual flagship event, wasn’t just another conference; it was a defining moment for our community. Held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, Global Summit brought together thousands of project professionals, changemakers, and leaders from around the world for four unforgettable days of learning, connection, and inspiration.

Phoenix, a rapidly growing hub for tech, sustainability innovation, and forward-thinking industries, mirrored exactly what Global Summit set out to celebrate: momentum, transformation, and bold ideas brought to life together. The theme, “MORE, Together”, didn’t just set the tone; it defined the experience.

What made 2025 big:

  • 4,000+ attendees from around the world
  • 120+ learning sessions
  • 4 keynote speakers sharing insight and inspiration
  • 6 excursions and off-site experiences
  • 21+ networking meetups designed for connection
  • Four Topic Tracks designed for every career stage:

    • Get Future Ready
    • Lead the Way
    • Make an Impact
  • NEW: Executive Track, an invitation-only experience focused on helping C-suite and senior leaders turn ambition into action at scale.

And in the countless conversations in hallways, lounges, and networking spaces, you could feel the profession evolving. When project professionals unite with a shared purpose, what becomes possible expands. That collective energy shaped every moment of this year’s Global Summit.

If you missed it, here’s your snapshot of what made 2025 so special—and why you’ll want to be there next year.

1. Big moments: Major announcements and launches

On Thursday, 13 November, PMI CEO Pierre Le Manh delivered the opening keynote to a full auditorium, its energy reflecting the excitement and momentum surrounding this year’s gathering. Pierre unveiled several major milestones that reflect our commitment to evolving the project management profession.

Updates you don’t want to miss:

  • PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition: Reflects the most comprehensive update to our global standard, shaped by thousands of practitioners.
  • PMP® Exam Refresh: Updates to the world’s leading project management certification to reflect emerging skills, and expands focus on AI integration, sustainability, and value-driven delivery. Coming July 2026.
  • PMI Infinity™ AI Expansion: Enhances access to “project-ready intelligence” directly on our mobile app.
  • Advanced Project Professional Certification: Introduces a new tier for leaders managing high-risk, high-complexity, high-impact projects. Limited access in 2026.

Together, these updates mark a transformative leap forward for the future of the profession. But more importantly, they call for us to step up, together.

Pierre Le Manh

When we step up, we elevate ourselves, we elevate our teams, we elevate our organizations, and ultimately, we elevate our world. It's not always comfortable, it's not always easy. And here's the truth. When a few of us step up, things change. When we all step up together, we change what's possible.

Pierre Le Manh
CEO, Project Management Institute

2. Inspiring Voices: Keynotes and speakers who stole the show

Across all keynotes, speakers didn’t just take the stage—they ignited it. The energy was unmistakable: bold ideas, human-centered leadership, and a shared reminder that project professionals are uniquely positioned to make change happen.

Thursday, 13 November, Day 1 — Kim Scott: Radical candor in action

Author and leadership expert Kim Scott’s keynote pushed attendees to embrace directness with compassion: listening first, caring deeply, then moving decisively toward solutions. Drawing on the principles from her bestselling book “Radical Candor”—a communication framework built on caring personally while challenging directly—Kim showed how honest, specific feedback empowers people to grow.

Kim Scott

A huge part of successfully driving any kind of project is to paint a picture of what’s possible.

Kim Scott
Author of “Radical Candor”

Her impact didn’t stop at the stage; she held a book signing and spent time connecting with attendees, reinforcing the spirit of authenticity she teaches.

Friday, 14 November, Day 2 — Damian Kulash: Play is the strategy

Day two shifted the energy into full creative mode. OK Go’s frontman Damian Kulash sparked a sense of possibility, reminding everyone that play is a form of planning—a gateway to experimentation, imagination, and innovation.

By grounding creativity in collaboration, discipline, and shared purpose, Damian illustrated that “MORE, Together” isn’t just a theme; it’s the engine behind every breakthrough. He connected this directly to the heart of Global Summit when he explained that whenever people ask how OK Go pulls off such ambitious work, the answer is simple:

Damian Kulash

The first question that most people have is how did you do that? [It’s] M.O.R.E. A bunch of really smart, really patient, really resourceful people have to work tirelessly—for much longer than anyone outside this room ever understands—to get a bunch of unruly systems to line up.

Frontman for OK Go

Saturday, 15 November, Day 3 — José Andrés: Courage, creativity, and humanity

With a blend of storytelling, urgency, and heart, Chef José Andrés delivered a closing keynote that challenged every leader in the room to do more. Drawing on his culinary career and his humanitarian work with World Central Kitchen, he showed how innovation and agility start with our most human instincts—care, resourcefulness, and connection.

Jose Andres

He bridged food, memory, and culture to emphasize that:

  • Our talents can help us care for many
  • In moments of chaos, project leaders are the ones who rise
  • Growth happens outside our comfort zone

It was a heartfelt close that underscored what it means to lead with empathy and boldness, and a reminder that project professionals play a critical role in helping communities rebuild, adapt, and thrive.

3. The future of project management: AI, skills, and what’s next

Outside of keynotes, attendees explored how project management is rapidly evolving in response to digital transformation. Breakout sessions unpacked the real impact of AI on day-to-day project work, showcased how leaders can build adaptive, resilient teams, and emphasized the new capabilities project professionals must develop to thrive in a hyper-modern workplace. From human-centered leadership to data-driven decision-making, participants walked away with a clearer picture of what the future of work looks like, and how to prepare for it now.

Kathleen Walch

Events like Global Summit create space for project professionals to learn, experiment, and collaborate—turning AI from an abstract concept into a practical tool for driving meaningful outcomes.

Beyond the session room, the enthusiasm for AI was unmistakable, with interest in PMIxAI offerings, especially the PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI (PMI-CPMAI)™ Exam Prep Course & Certification, which drew demand from attendees eager to deepen their skills and validate their expertise.

4. Energy everywhere: The buzz that connected the entire event

From the moment the doors opened, Global Summit was alive with energy. Attendees moved from packed sessions to one-on-one meetups to hands-on demos, creating a constant current of curiosity, learning, and connection. The buzz wasn’t confined to any one space; the entire event felt alive.

Interactive spaces that sparked engagement:

Across Global Summit, attendees dove into dozens of immersive experiences:

  • Certified Experience: A tunnel of archways highlighting our full suite of certifications, consultative conversations, photo ops, and pin pickup for active certification holders.
  • Agile Arcade: A zone where attendees tried digital games and tested adaptability in the Agile Sprint Spree game.
  • Passion Point: Music, mocktails, and sports brought personality and creativity into projects management.
  • Membership Pavilion: Global chapters, benefits, and the popular “MORE, Together” photo booth.
  • TIME Solutionaries: Short films created with TIME Studio spotlighting innovators using project management to tackle environmental and sustainability challenges.
  • Together Tapestry: A collaborative eco-art installation where attendees wove repurposed fabric and shared reflections on the positive impact they hope to create.

Everywhere you looked, people were experimenting, discovering, and celebrating their professional journeys.

5. The power of community: Project managers coming together

Across Global Summit, one theme echoed through every conversation: the people make this experience unforgettable.

Global Summit is where you get the right industry insights at the right time; a place where PMI’s work comes to life and where project professionals learn what’s shifting in the field as it happens. But above all, it’s about connections. Whether that’s sparking a single conversation or finding your newfound project buddy and commemorating the moment with matching tattoos (yes, that actually happened!), the relationships built here are what make Global Summit unforgettable.

One attendee, Dayakar Mandala, PMP, PMI-RMP, program and portfolio manager, captured the spirit perfectly when asked why someone should come to Global Summit.

Dayakar Mandala

To have a human connection. It’s about finding your people and engaging with them. It’s about meeting people with experiences and insights who want to share feedback and lessons learned. We share it together, and we explore together.

Dayakar Mandala, PMP, PMI-RMP, program and portfolio manager

This is the heart of Global Summit: real people, real stories, real learning—together.

For many, that sense of belonging is what keeps them coming back. It’s where project managers meet collaborators, career-long friends, mentors, and future teammates. It’s where professionals like feel seen, supported, and part of something bigger.

6. Driving change: Sustainability and social impact

Sustainability and social impact touched every corner of this year’s Global Summit. From thoughtful booth designs and sustainable merch to sessions focused on real-world humanitarian challenges, the event highlighted how project managers are using their skills to elevate communities and create meaningful global change.

Our Projects on Purpose area showcased real stories of impact from PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) and Project Management Without Borders. Through storytelling and hands-on activities, attendees saw how project management drives community improvement around the world.

The Washing Machine Project

In the session rooms, speakers from Tarform Mortorcycles and The Washing Machine Project and Whirpool shared real-world examples of how project management turns bold ideas into meaningful impact.

And the Sustainability Pathway demonstrated how sustainable practices can be integrated into every stage of project work. The activation emphasized that sustainability isn’t a side effort; it must be embedded into every project. For attendees looking to deepen that commitment, the Green Project Manager – Basic™ (GPM-b™) | Course + Exam Bundle emerged as a clear path to building the skills needed to lead truly sustainable, responsible project outcomes.

7. A chance to celebrate excellence and impact

We celebrated the leaders, innovators, chapters, and teams who are reshaping what excellence looks like across the profession during the 2025 PMI Awards. The winners embody the spirit of “MORE, Together,” showing how collaboration, creativity, and commitment can elevate not just projects, but entire communities.

The evening featured a moving performance by the Phoenix Children’s Chorus, who joined the event to perform a dedicated social impact song.

8. Don’t miss out next year: See you in Detroit!

If one message defined this year’s Global Summit, it was the unmistakable energy you could feel everywhere, an energy powered by community, learning, purpose, and the shared belief that project professionals are doing MORE.

And next year, that spirit continues in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where PMI will bring together professionals from around the world to keep pushing boundaries, elevating their skills, and shaping the future of the profession.

Whether you’re looking for breakthrough insights, hands-on learning, career-defining connections, or simply the feeling of belonging to something bigger, you won’t want to miss what’s coming next.
