About the Instructor(s)

  • J. Scott Burd, PhD

    J. Scott Burd, PhD, has a wide background in program and project management, leadership, operations, teaching, and consulting. His unique ability to assess situations and cultural climates has enabled over 50 organizations to make major shifts in their thinking and processes. Mr. Burd has been researching leadership, change and corporate cultures, and teaching people these unique techniques, for 30 years.

    His 40,000 hours of research and experience is blended into a unique, systems approach that helps people become leaders and champions, reduces the fear of change, and stimulates change faster with complete participation and buy-in. He has authored ten books on organization change, project management, leadership, and Microsoft Project, and has received two NASA Achievement Awards for business innovations.

    Mr. Burd has held significant positions as a Naval Aviator, program manager, university professor, entrepreneur, and international consultant. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, holds a Master of Science in Astrophysics from the University of Houston, acquired his MBA in Organizational Development at California Lutheran University, and his PhD in Organizational Psychology from Walden University.

    For the past seven years, he has worked with several universities for undergraduate and masters-level business students. Recently, Mr. Burd created and taught online classes in Six Sigma philosophy, and diversity and equality for the UC – Riverside School of Business.
