How DEWA Increased Efficiencies and Value Using Streamlined Project Management Processes
Created in 1992, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has evolved and grown as the city of Dubai became the flourishing global hub of business activity for the Middle East and Northern Africa it is today. This unprecedented growth presented a challenge as the organization faced increasing complexity along with the already daunting task of providing water and electricity services to a region with a population of over 2 million. As more and more projects were initiated, DEWA’s leadership discovered that standard project management practices were not being observed across the organization, leading to decreased efficiencies, tempered innovation, redundant data, and an increased administrative burden on employees. DEWA addressed this by implementing a greater number of PMI certification holders and adhering to proven project, program and portfolio management practices, thus reducing risks, cutting costs and improving success rates.
