Newtown Square , Pennsylvania, USA — Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit advocacy association for the project management profession, is proud to announce the 2007 chair, vice chair and secretary/treasurer of its globally-based board of directors. Linda Vella, PMP; Philip R. Diab, PMP; and Martin C. VanDerSchouw, PMP, assumed leadership of the board as of 1 January 2007.
Linda Vella, Chair, currently heads up the Corporate PMO at TD Bank Financial Group, a multinational financial services corporation based in Toronto, Canada. In this role, she is accountable for the corporation’s project management methodology, executive reporting on projects, assessing PM competencies, coaching project managers and providing guidance on project management career paths.
Ms. Vella held the role of PMI board vice chair in 2006, has worked on the Strategic Planning & Program Alignment (SPPA) Committee as a team member and committee chair, and led an investigation and obtained approval to implement scenario planning as a basis for future strategic dialogues. Ms. Vella is also a past president of the PMI Southern Ontario Chapter, where she moved the chapter from an operational to a strategic focus during her terms.
Ms. Vella is a frequent speaker on project management and PMI. She has been interviewed and quoted in several publications, including the National Post and IT World in Canada and International Business Daily in China. She holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential. Ms. Vella will join PMI CEO Gregory Balestrero in welcoming attendees during the Opening Ceremonies on Monday, 29 January, at PMI Global Congress 2007—Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.
Philip Diab, Vice Chair, is the chief projects officer for the Aregon Group, which serves the Middle East region providing management consulting, information technology and outsourcing services. In his role as CPO, his focus is methodology development and implementation, community creation, profession building and executive oversight. He is currently leading the company’s efforts to integrate three software development companies and a hardware supplier into Aregon’s core business. Mr. Diab, who resides in Amman, Jordan, also manages a group of project managers that spans the Middle East.
Mr. Diab is immediate past board secretary/treasurer and Performance Oversight Committee (POC) chair and past Strategic Planning and Program Alignment (SPPA) Committee chair. Prior to joining the PMI board, Mr. Diab held numerous roles throughout the Institute including founder and president of the Thunderbird International Student Chapter; chair of the Assembly of Special Interest Group (SIG) Chairs, founder and chair of the Marketing and Sales SIG; and Leadership Conference Member Advisory Group (MAG) and Planning Committee member. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential.
Martin VanDerSchouw, Secretary/Treasurer, currently serves as president and CEO of Looking Glass Development LLC, a PMI global registered education provider (R.E.P.) and certified Microsoft Solutions Provider. In addition to his role as secretary/treasurer of the PMI board, Mr. VanDerSchouw was also elected chair of the Performance Oversight Committee (POC). He resides in Colorado, and was named to the Denver Business Journal’s “40 Under 40,” serves as a member of the President’s Business Advisory Council for President George Bush, and is a member of Colorado’s Commission on Information Management as appointed by Colorado Governor Bill Owens. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential.
