PMI Project Management Salary Survey

2009 Salary Survey

The survey for the PMI® Project Management Salary Survey Sixth Edition is currently taking place by invitation only. To assure confidentiality, PMI has engaged PeriscopeIQ, a strategy and compensation specialist firm, to conduct the research.

Created and updated by PMI’s Research Department, the PMI® Project Management Salary Survey provides a comprehensive look at the global project management field and enables you to more effectively negotiate your salary.

The fifth edition, published in 2007, is the result of the largest sample ever taken, based on self-reported data from more than 5,500 project management practitioners all over the world. Because of sampling constraints, salary information is not available for all positions in every geographic location.

The full report of the Salary Survey features:

• The responses of more than 5,500 practitioners in 19 countries
• Cross-tabulations of salary data by 12 positions and 15 demographic variables
• Reported salary increases over the last year
• Expected salary increases for the next year
• Information on benefit packages, work environments and available global project management career paths

If you are interested only in the salary information for one particular region, an individual country report may be just what you need.

The country reports of the Salary Survey feature:

  • • Cross-tabulations of salary data by 12 positions and 15 demographic variables
  • • Reported salary increases over the last year
  • • Expected salary increases for the next year
  • • Option to exclude “self-employed” respondents (because self-employed data can be on the outlier fringes and can skew results) Available through the Online Query only.

Purchase the Salary Survey
The PMI® Project Management Salary Survey, Fifth Edition, is available for purchase from the Marketplace. Prices are US$150.00 for the full report and US$50.00 for the country reports. PMI members can purchase the full report at the discounted price of US$100.00 and US$20.00 each for the individual country reports.

Online Queries
If you are a PMI member, you can perform a self-directed online query of the Salary Survey at no charge. This gives you the ability to tabulate and compare salary data by position and geographic location. To perform an online query, log on to PMI.org for access to salary survey information and many other member benefits.
