PMI-SP Handbook

CAPM Handbook

PMI acknowledges your dedication to the profession with your interest in achieving one of our professional credentials. We know your time is valuable and try to make the credential process as smooth as possible.

Before you apply, please read the online handbook for the credential in which you are interested. The handbook includes detailed information about the credential and PMI policies and procedures. It is important that you familiarize yourself with our processes before you begin so that you know what to expect and what is expected of you.

PMI encourages you to apply online.  However, printable application forms are available on this site if you choose to mail in your application.

Note: The application processing time is longer for applications that are mailed to PMI.

The Application

TIP

Use the application checklist in the handbook as a guide when you apply online.

The time it takes you to complete an application depends on the amount of detail necessary for that credential eligibility.

Most people require the following amount of time at minimum to complete the credential applications:

• 10 days/weeks for PgMP
• 8 hours for all other PMI credentials

Although PMI will e-mail you reminders during the process, you have the responsibility to schedule and sit for your examination within the one-year eligibility period.
